Simon Bakewell
Can I ask the judges what criteria they use for picking the POTD? Is it just images that stand out or are you looking for clarity, bright colours, realism etc? Thanks Simon
Reggie Jones
Hi Simon. Generally, we look at the items you mention as well as how well noise is dealt with, the difficulty of the object, how much detail is brought out, color balance. Wow also try to avoid selecting folks who've won POTD within the last couple of weeks and we try to review a variety of target images - we want to avoid selecting the same target that may have won POTD within a similar 2 week time frame if possible. It greatly depends on the number of different members posting images to the gallery; the more people posting images, the more variety we're able to get. We will also try to include someone new to image processing if we determine they made a valiant effort on a dataset but may have a minor error or 2 to encourage them to continue working and improving their skills. 1
Dan Thompson
On the topic of POTD - could the admins please tag the user who created the image on your social channels? Seems this could be an easy addition, and would be nice for exposure of the folks working so hard on these. Thanks for your consideration.
